Gregory B. Dickerson was born in 1960 in West Brighton, a district of New York City's borough of Staten Island. He is a graduate of Susan E. Wagner High School and the College of Staten Island, majoring in Business Management. An employee of the Mass Transit Authority (MTA) for the past 25 years, he currently resides in Staten Island.
