This paper defines the current acquisition crisis by presenting its major causes and its far-reaching consequences. It then examines historical successes of schedule-driven programs from the USAF's past and debunks several hollow myths, such as the overwhelming complexity of current programs, some use as attempted justification for programmatic woes.
